Greece is the ideal country for the national-level analysis, as it not only has diverse geography and large renewable energy potential, but it is also radically changing its energy system development, with the planned phase out of lignite-fired power plants by 2028.
Energy scenarios towards 2030 and 2050 in the Greek case study consider the evolution of all sectors and aim to evaluate the challenges for the achievement of the national energy and climate targets, as well as the implications from their achievement.
